BRED IN THE BONE are a gathering of theatre makers from England, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Poland and Spain dedicated to bringing together and exploring their diverse theatre traditions. Our work is rooted in the actor and derives from dedicated training, exploring and expanding the research on the actors’ craft. The international nature of the company is fundamental to its identity, from which we seek to enlarge our understanding of each other’s culture, looking for what is common in who we are. Our influences are as varied as Peter Brook, Annie Castledine, Complicite, Jerzy Grotowski, Theatre du Soleil, and Anatoli Vassiliev, to name only a few, who’s work is inspirational to us. We do not intend to develop a particular type of aesthetic or form of theatre but rather use within our productions a dialogue between our theatrical cultures best suited for the moment we are exploring.

BRIGHT UNCONQUERED SONS: Fragments of Shakespeare. A recomposition of Shakespearian extracts which tells the story of five young people, as they explore their own tale of love, loneliness and binge-drinking. Sandra is waiting for her date. Jack is playing games. Something has come between Sam and Clive. Georgie has a secret. "All this the world well knows: yet none knows well" First perfromed 5th March 09 Pleasance, Islington. Then ITsFest 09, Amsterdam and Bankside Gallery co-produced with Southwark Playhouse April 2010.

Part of the fever is a collection of moments that have looked at a few of the possibilities in relationships that we can encounter. These moments have come from devised work and looking at existing material and re-contextualising it against another to create a third new piece. These moments use and have been inspired by Shakespeare/poems/films/music/Graphic Novels/other plays. Of course this is not the definitive exploration of love/sex/everything between & beyond as this is only Part of the fever.
